Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, where the objective is to score goals by advancing a ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is primarily played with the feet, although players can use any part of their body except the arms and hands to control the ball, with the goalkeeper being the exception who can use their hands within a designated area. Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

The most widely recognized form of football globally is association football, often referred to simply as “soccer” in certain countries, particularly the United States and Canada. The sport is characterized by its emphasis on teamwork, strategy, and skill, and it is played at both amateur and professional levels worldwide. Football is also notable for its large following and cultural significance, culminating in major international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup, which showcases national teams from around the world. Football serves as a source of entertainment, community building, and physical activity, making it one of the most popular sports globally.
